Center for International Mobility (CIM)

Center for International Mobility

The Center for International Students (CIS) and the Center for International Mobility (CIM) are central organizational units that work as competence and service centers to support internationalization at Osnabrück University of Applied Sciences. To this end, they work on fundamental issues; design and support projects and programs; and act as contact partners for the University Steering Commit-tee when it comes to internationalization issues. In addition, they develop and organize university-wide services, and they complement and support the work of the International Faculty Offices.

The Center for International Mobility (CIM) is responsible for central services in the areas of mobility, summer programs and university partnerships, and it coordinates inter-faculty participation in international programs. The CIM works closely with the International Faculty Offices which are the first point of contact for incoming and outgoing students and teaching staff in the respective faculty.

tasks

The following are the CIM’s specific responsibilities:

In order to promote incoming and outgoing mobility, staff at the Center for International Mobility manage various scholarship programs (e.g. ERASMUS, DAAD, etc.) and advise students and faculty about financing options.

Located at the Center for International Mobility is the Welcome Center that addresses international researchers who would like to teach or conduct resarch with us or consider becoming a professor at a University of Applied Sciences.

In addition, international further education and advanced training offerings, as part of the staff devel-opment program for employees in the areas of technology and administration as well as research assistants, are organized through the CIM in collaboration with the Department of Human Resources (Staff Development Team). University members can find more information in the members area of the OSCA portal.

Furthermore, the CIM is responsible for offering international intensive German courses before the start of the semester in February and in August/September, and organizes a series of additional summer courses.

Explore Germany, the accompanying cultural program offered during the semester for international (visiting) students, is organized by the CIM. The Housing Service is responsible for arranging accommoda-tion for international visiting students.

The CIM works closely with Hochschulzentrum China (HZC, the China Competence Center).

The Center for International Mobility advises the faculties and the Institute of Music on opportunities for bilateral university partnerships, and it awards funding from the international pool for financing internationalization activities. University members can find more information about this in the mem-bers area of the OSCA portal.

The CIM team also supports inter-faculty partnerships with universities worldwide, as well as the international projects of the UAS7 consortium.
