Content

-collect site parameters as basis for the mapping-realize soil profile surveys according to the soil survey manual and complete to a catena through mapping -Assessment of the water, air and nutrient regime through an estimation procedure and assessment of the soils as plant habitat -Application of procedures on soil function assessment-Capture of relevant animal habitats in the project area -Mapping of selected animal groups in the project area -Communication of selected mapping methods, project-specific -Editing of found data for landscape planning -Vegetation mapping in the project area, e.g. according to Braun-Blanquet -Evaluation of vegetation assessments of the project area in accordance with indicative values (e.g. Ellenberg) -Introduction of EDP-evaluation of vegetation assessments (group work)

Students reinforce their knowledge through concrete assessments in the field.

Students are able to apply mapping instructions/ determination processes and to derive evaluations.

Students derive conclusions from the open country assessments, debate and develop short appraisals/ project reports and present those in a seminar-like form.

The skill to interpret mapping basics critically and results out of the experiences in the field course.
